What is yoga?

Yoga means “unity” – the unity of body, mind, and soul. The goal in yoga is the conscious experience of this unity in every moment. So yoga is an inner state.

As a method, yoga includes a variety of body and breathing exercises, mudras and meditation. With the help of these exercises, we direct our consciousness inwards and get rest and relaxation. Through this inner peace, we are able to experience a state of unity.

The yoga exercises are focused on concentrated practice rather than performance (such as agility), so that yoga can be practiced by all. Yoga exercises have many positive effects:

  • Relaxation in case of stress and nervousness
  • Improvement of mobility
  • Sensitization to the processes in the body and thereby also to the personal needs
  • Strengthening the skeleton, muscles and internal organs
  • Improvement of concentration
